Implementing Best Practices in COPD

COPD is underrecognized by both healthcare professionals and patients. This leads to lost opportunities for diagnosis, treatment, and pulmonary rehabilitation and explains, at least in part, why COPD is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. In this series of 3 Medical Minute roundtables, expert faculty share best practices for evaluating and managing COPD.

In Medical Minute 1, Corinne R. Young, MSN, FNP-C leads discussion on clinical pearls for recognizing and diagnosing COPD, as well as tips on how to perform spirometry appropriately. In Medical Minute 2, Brian W. Carlin, MD, leads discussion on how to interpret the GOLD 2023 guidelines and how to apply them to managing COPD. And in Medical Minute 3, Samuel Louie, MD leads discussion on the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation and how to overcome barriers to it.
