Activity Description

This is a featured CE activity on the Center for Specialty Pharmacy Education (CSPE) website. CSPE is the educational hub of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP). This activity was originally presented during the 2020 NASP Virtual Conference. This activity will discuss copay accumulators and maximizers, patient out of pocket expense and operational challenges. Case study scenarios will be used to examine patient challenges.

Learning Objectives

The target audience for this activity is pharmacists. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Differentiate the roles of accumulators and maximizers related to the specialty patient experience.
  • Investigate the impact of each party on the patient out-of-pocket responsibility and affordability of care.
  • Solve for operational challenges to overcome related to the utilization of patient-facing services.
