Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve the competence of specialist pharmacists in addressing key barriers to care and facilitating best practices in drug therapy for HIV prevention and treatment.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for specialist pharmacists who provide care for people living with HIV and/or people who can benefit from PrEP.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the appropriate use of ART regimens based on guideline recommendations and patient-specific factors such as patient preferences, presence of renal or hepatic impairment, concomitant medications, and underlying comorbidities
  • Advise on innovative ART strategies to individualize HIV treatment, including complex clinical cases such as in the setting of polypharmacy, multimorbidity, and ARV resistance
  • Identify candidates and appropriate PrEP regimens for individual patients based on available agents and current evidence
  • Employ practical strategies within different pharmacy practice settings to overcome barriers to increased PrEP use among those for whom it is recommended, especially underserved patient subpopulations
  • Develop a comprehensive approach to HIV prevention involving delivery of tailored PrEP regimens and incorporation of other sexual health services

This activity is jointly provided by ProCE, LLC and American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). ProCE, LLC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This activity is approved for 1.0 contact hour (0.10 CEU) in states that recognize ACPE providers. This activity is provided at no cost to participants.
