Activity Description

This training provides research-backed communication strategies for physicians and nurses to engage patients in conversation and support COVID-19 vaccination.

Pregnant women face significantly higher risks of serious illness and death from COVID-19. Nevertheless, COVID-19 vaccination among a subset of women of childbearing age lags far behind the general population. Concerns and misinformation about the efficacy and safety of the vaccines for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or hoping to get pregnant in the future present a serious obstacle to vaccine compliance in these vulnerable populations.

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity includes physicians and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be better able to:

  • Identify strategies to initiate effective conversations about COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Demonstrate principles of empathetic listening and responding to understand the patient’s perspective.
  • Apply strategies to productively engage patients in learning about COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Develop a clear behavioral directive to encourage vaccination.
